At Kapture we want to give everyone the opportunity to do more with what they hear. We feel if everyone listened more intently and was more engaged in the act of paying attention, the world will be a better place.
We also believe when you hear something meaningful you should be able to hold onto it just like you hold on to a photograph. Also like a photograph, some of these audio moments are meant to be public while others are very private. Our goal is to ensure the privacy of your original audio content and the other personal data collected to define your profile. We also want to be transparent about what data we collect, how it is used internally, and how it is shared externally.

Data Kapture Collects
When you use a Kapture Device you are recording a digital audio File in a range of audible and inaudible frequencies - things you can hear and things you can’t hear with the human ear. The Files are held in a temporary storage arrangement so that a user has the opportunity to go backwards in time to save a File. We like to think of it like a mini-DVR for audio.
Only the most current Files are stored in this manner. The Files are only saved if and only if the user of the Device takes the appropriate physical action to save the current recording. The record duration is typically defined as sixty seconds, but is subject to change in the future. It is not feasible for the user, or for Kapture, to retrieve a File outside of the record duration. Kapture never saves a File without your express action.
Additional data is attached to a saved File including, but not limited to, the date, time, and location. The new contextual data becomes a part of the File and is treated as the File. If a File is deleted all data is deleted related to the File. If a File is saved it is securely transferred to the Kapture App.
To access your Files from the Kapture App you must create a new Kapture user account. When you create an account, we ask for some personal information. You will also have the option to create a Kapture account using your Facebook or Twitter account (subject to change). We will ask permission to access basic information from that account, like your name, profile picture, and friend list. You can stop sharing that information with us at any time by removing Kapture from that account.
Kapture App will access your phone’s contact list, photos, and microphone. The access allows you to identify contacts that are Kapture users, attach photographs to Kapture Files, and record Files within the App. We do not store your phone’s contact list, and it is deleted immediately after it is used for this purpose.
Additional data may be requested as part of the user account and will be stored as an addition to other account information.
